Give Janelle a challenge—any challenge—and she’ll research it until either you or she is blue in the face.
Janelle grew up just down the way from a sugarcane factory in Richmond, Texas. Whether her geographical proximity to metaphorical Candy Land gave her a bigger sweet tooth than the average Texan (or Red Fan staff member, for that matter) is still unknown, but we’ll be sure to report back with key findings when we learn more.
A career in public relations often means working behind the scenes instead of in front of a camera, doing what’s necessary to make your client the hero for customers, reporters and investors. Janelle apparently learned that lesson early. Her first “gig” came in high school, where she wrote daily announcements for the school before graduating from UT with a bachelor’s degree in PR.
Though she’s a self-proclaimed workaholic, Janelle finds enough time in her day to read cheesy romance novels (see: Nicholas Sparks), playing billiards (some people play billiards, most people play pool), watching Dallas Stars hockey (see: not 2019 Stanley Cup champions) and teaching basic English to her child, Gidget (see: millennial pet parent).
The biggest thing to know about Janelle is her inability to settle for less. Her commitment to success and personal fulfillment has been on display time and time again in her young career, which has taken her from HomeAway, Edelman and JASK to the blue house on Helms Street.
