Red Fan Communications Awarded Gold and Silver 2021 Bulldog PR Awards

AUSTIN, Texas (June 2, 2021)—Red Fan Communications (Red Fan), a full-service communications agency for high-growth B2B brands, announced today it has won gold and silver 2021 Bulldog PR Awards for “Best Cause/Advocacy Campaign” and “Best Diversity/Inclusion Campaign,” respectively.

Red Fan was awarded a gold 2021 Bulldog PR Award for its work with Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation (TOCC). In the fall of 2020, Red Fan partnered with TOCC, Texas’s leading medical cannabis provider, to advocate for the expansion of medical cannabis legislation in Texas. TOCC, which is Texas’s only medical cannabis producer with its headquarters in the state, provides thousands of patients across Texas with high-quality medical cannabis to treat chronic or severe conditions as part of the Texas Compassionate Use Program.

Together, Red Fan and TOCC have advocated for countless Texans who could benefit from a legal medical cannabis prescription.

“We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation and helping to lead the charge toward responsible, safe medical cannabis legislation in Texas,” said Kathleen Lucente, president and founder of Red Fan. “Our work together has featured everything we love to see in an integrated communications campaign: powerful storytelling and media relations that put people first, advocacy that spreads awareness among critical stakeholders, collaborative partnerships, and thought leadership from exceptional executives and spokespeople who bring their unique voice and perspective to important issues.”

Red Fan was also awarded a silver 2021 Bulldog PR Award for its engagement with Female Founders First by Barclays and Techstars, a 6-week networking and educational program dedicated to helping 30 female founders break down barriers to entrepreneurship like access to capital and the ability to tap into business networks and mentorship programs.

Through the partnership, Red Fan promoted the program through strategic media relations outreach, facilitated connections to key industry media and empowered founders with the skills they need to pursue PR efforts on their own. Lucente also worked directly with program participants to provide one-on-one mentorship, communications best practices and executive coaching.

“First and foremost, Red Fan is a values-based agency; to a person, we’re passionate about the need for diversity and inclusion not just in business, but in life” Lucente said. “As a female founder myself, I understand the challenges female entrepreneurs face in starting and growing a business. So, naturally, we jumped at the opportunity to highlight the brands, people and stories that are advancing the conversation around diversity and inclusion.”
